Metro East Conference
Hosted by Guerin Prep

Catherine Chevalier Forest Preserve

The colors are indeed starting to change, most likely because of the FRIGID weather, something we definitely experienced this morning!  The temperature was still in the 30's when the first race began.

Ale came back to cheer on the team today, sporting her Spring Arbor University colors.
First race of the day: Girls Varsity

Chloe and Tammy were are only girls running today.  They were the first to brave the bitter temps.

  Warming up

GO!

Tamron ran only 9 seconds slower than her PR last

Tamron ran only 9 seconds slower than her PR last

week, which is understandable in light of the chilly

temperatures.  Way to push through the cold!!!

Final time: 22:56.

Chloe also ran a bit slower than last week's PR, but still stayed well under her previous times in spite of the frosty weather.  Her time was 25:30.  Super!!!

Next up: Varsity Boys

Off they go!

Luis put himself out in front from the very beginning, eventually finishing in 10th place overall, earning himself an "All Conference" title!  His time was a PR at 16:40. Amazing!!!

Mitch was our 2nd runner to cross the finish line.  He was 16th overall and had a time of 17:16 (only 10 seconds slower than last week; again, probably due to the cold weather).  Great run, Mitch!
Eric was the 3rd finisher for Walther.  The results showed that he finished in 20th with a time of 17:26.  Not his PR either, but still much improved from his first two runs.  Keep it up, Eric!

Jaylin stayed strong today. He ran with Jose and David not too far behind, but in the end Jaylin was the one who pulled ahead.  The official results recorded his time in error, but our best guesstimate is that he finished in 22nd place in 17:39, only 2 seconds short from his PR last week.  Superb!

David was just steps behind Jaylin at the finish.  He finished in 23rd place, our final scorer for today, with a time of 17:40.  Fantastic!

Jose was next to finish after David, completing his time in 17:49, tying his previous PR from last week.  Way to stay consistent in this chilly weather!

Jack pushed hard to finish in 18:47.  In spite of the cold, he actually achieved a new PR.  Way to beat the odds, Jack!!
Here is the team post-race, and prior to finding out that they were 3rd place overall as a team!  That's an improvement from our last run here (4th place) and we were the 1st of the other 1A teams (The first & second place teams were 2A and 3A schools!)

Next up, JV Boys:

Look closely, do you see both photo bombers?

One is pretty obvious.

The other not quite so obvious.

Ready to go!

Julio and Steven started out together at the beginning of the race.

Julio pushed hard to move into the top ten, eventually earning himself a 5th place medal!  His final time was 18:40.  This was a new PR for him!

Steven also earned himself a medal, coming in 13th place overall and finishing the course in 19:35.  Great job, Steven!

Our other Steven also had a great run today.  His final time was 22:07, and in case you're wondering, YES! He overtook this runner just before the finish line.  Great sprint to the end, Steven!

Xavier also looked strong during his run today.  His final time was 22:32.  Not a PR, but still so much better than most of his other previous runners.  Great job, Xavier!
Final Race:  Open Boys

The same photo bomber!

(From this point forward, there was a change in photographers, so I take no credit or blame for the following pictures, or lack thereof!!!)

Kobe ran right toward the front and fought hard, completing the race in 4th place overall.  His time was 17:56. In spite of the cold, he also got his PR.  WOW!!!

Aaron was another one of our runners who achieved a PR today.  He finished the race in 19:46, breaking 20 minutes for the first time ever!!!!  Fantastic!

James pushed hard through the cold to finish in 20:14, his 2nd best time of the year.  (My apologies for the lack of pictures, James.  The assigned photographer, aka the photo bomber, did not fulfil her duties!)

 AWARDS CEREMONY:

All Conference!!!

Great job, everyone!!!
What a fun day.
Looking forward to Regionals.
and beyond!!!!
