First meet of 2016
Elmwood Park High School

What a great start to what I believe is going to be a great year!  We started out strong in many ways, especially considering how early in the season it is.  It will be fun to watch this time grow and improve over the next few months.  For those of you who could not make it today (and even for those who could!), enjoy the summary of the day's events below.

Warming up

Final instructions to the group

Coach Goffron and Coach Sonja

First race of the day: Girls Varsity

Claudia & Chloe

70 girls ran today

Off they go!

Chloe was obviously very happy today! She finished in 54th overall with a time of 18:09.  Not a bad start!

Claudia took two minutes and six seconds off her time from this race last year.  What an improvement!  She finished in 39th place with a time of 16:13.

Varsity Boys

Jaylin, Luis, Jack, Gus, and David

There were 84 participants today.

Bang!

Our top 3 runners ended in the top 20!

Girls JV

Addy was our sole JV girls runner today.

Addy was 57th out of 109 runners (our biggest race of the day).  Her time was 17:28.  This is a great start for someone who's running for the first time!
Final Race:  Boys JV

Darryl, Luke, Nathaniel, Daniel, Julio, Quang, and Jacob

Our top 3 runners started at the beginning of the pack.

Julio cut 2 minutes and 6 seconds off of his time from last year!  He finished in 8th place overall (out of 80).

Nathaniel just missed top 10 (got 11th) and finished with an impressive time of 12:40.

Jacob was 22nd overall and completed the run in 13:09.

Darryl was the 23rd competitor overall, finishing in a time of 13:12.

Daniel took 46 seconds off of last year's time to complete the course in 14:52.

Quang finished in 16:07.

Luke did an amazing job, considering that he just joined the team (had only 1 practice!).  He finished in 16:42.

Darryl with his ribbon.  My apologies to Nathaniel and Jacob...I was unable to get a picture of them with their well-deserved awards.
 Cleaning up

Final awards during the ceremony:  Julio, could you look a little happier?

Well done, Luis!

Again, great job, everyone.  What a fun afternoon!  Next up is Mequon, WI, on September 3.  Looking forward to another opportunity to cheer you all on!  Stay healthy and injury-free, please!
