Conference Preview Meet
Elmwood Park High School
September 16, 2014

This was just a preview of what's to come when the real Conference takes place, although there will be more competitors next time around as all of the schools in our Conference did not attend today.

The weather was pleasant and our athletes represented us well.  Being just a "preview" there was no award ceremony today, but had there been, the boys would have walked away with third place as a team again!  Way to go, guys!!

There were just two races today.
First off, the girls:

There were only 58 girl runners today.

Racing toward the finish line...

A strong finish
Pushing through the pain

Long strides to bring it home

A happy finisher!  Claudia has taken off over a minute from her mile pace compared to her first run of the season.  Super!

Second and last race of the day: The Boys

We had 13 boys running together today.

"Here's the plan..."

There were 88 runners total in the boys' race.

After one mile...

There's always a show-off in every crowd.

The girls are relaxing after their race and cheering on the boys as they go by.

Approaching the finish line...

Eric came in 5th place.  Final time: 16:32.

Mitch was our second finisher for the team and 16th overall.  Final time: 17:58.

Jaylin was close behind in 18th place, finishing in 18:03.

Luis was 21st overall, with a time of 18:14.

Jack made it into our 5th place for our team, 28th overall.  His time was 18:32.

Jose pushed hard to finish in 31st place, with a time of 18:40.

Jacob crossed the finish line only 23 seconds later, with a time of 19:03.

Finishing time 19:35.

James was actually one of the few people who improved his time from last Saturday.  He finished in 19:44.

Gus was right behind him, finishing in 19:49.

David had been out the last two races, so hasn't run a 3 mile course yet, but he was able to take off 36 seconds from his mile pace compared to his first 5K of the season.

Zach is the only other runner (besides James) who improved his time from last weekend.  Way to push, Zach.  Final time: 24:25.

Jose finished in 24:29.

Your favorite cheerleaders.  Emoji

Our next meet is hosted by Argo, but for the first time (in years!), it will NOT be at Bull Frog Lake.

See you then!!
