SCC
Conference Meet
Marmion Academy
Aurora, IL

As is typical for Conference, it was a chilly meet, but thankfully a dry one (at least until the very end).  It was also a very successful one in many ways.  All of the varsity runners improved upon their times from our last 5K, putting us in good form heading into Regionals next Saturday.  In fact, everyone improved upon their times!

A big THANKS to Mrs. Friederich for being the team's photographer today!!!  Your effort is greatly appreciated.

Enjoy!

Between the blankets (above) and the headgear (below), it's quite evident that the temperature was chillier than normal today!

A little frisbee seemed in order to keep the bodies warm.

Wait!  Is this a meet or a Study Hall???

When all else fails, HUDDLE!!!

Ma & Pa Steinhart, you should be proud of Matthew's diligence on a Saturday morning!

Final run-outs.

Ready at the starting line.

They're off!

Jack finished in 19:21, which is a 58 second improvement from his previous 5K.

Anders cut off 2 minutes, 19 seconds to finish in 22:30.4.

GIRLS VARSITY:

At the starting line

Don't even think about passing Ale near the finish line!  Final time was 21:11.3, which, by the way, is an improvement of 3 minutes and 1 second from her 5K at Lisle!!!

Nessa's time was 24:40.1, which was also an improvement.  She was 1 minute & 4 seconds faster than her previous 5K time.

BOYS VARSITY:

This is Mario looking down while he runs.

This is what Mario see when he runs.  (Just teasing Mario...I couldn't resist!)

Jose's technique seems to be the shoeless method (Is this better or worse than the one shoe method from 2 weeks ago???).

Mitch and Jacob were pushing each other on.

At the finish line: 17 minutes, 25.8 seconds, an improvement of 49 seconds!!!

Mario took off 1minute & 15 seconds to finish in 18:42.6!!!

Jose's lack of shoes didn't hurt him. Final time was 18:59.8, cutting his time by 1 min & 4 sec.

These two were almost inseparable, finishing in 19:23.3 and 19:23.6, respectively.  Mitch cut off 36 seconds from his Lisle time, and Jacob reduced his by 38 seconds!!!

Jaylin reduced his time by 44 seconds, finishing in 20:36.0!!!

James completed his run in 21:19.4, taking off 48 seconds from Lisle!!!

OPEN RUN:

(Sorry, Peter, we missed you on the first lap.)

Hmmm...another semi-shoeless runner????

Rohan took off 2 minutes & 42 seconds to finish in 23:39.6.

Jose also improved by reducing his time by 4 minutes & 44 seconds since Westmont!  Total time was 24:49.6.  Steven finished in 26:13, 62 seconds faster than his 4K at Lisle!

Kenny completed it in 25:09.1, 1 min., 17 seconds faster than before.

Joey came in at 25:47.5, cutting his time by three min., 53 seconds!

Benji finished in 25:50.1, an improvement of 29 seconds.

Peter finished in 27:09.5.  This was his first 5K of the season.

HANGING AROUND AFTER THE RACES WHILE WAITING FOR THE AWARD CEREMONY:

Snack time...this time it's CUPCAKES!

Final stretches

Our seniors (minus Peter, who left early)

Does someone want to explain this for me so I can put an appropriate caption???

Jack won the PR Pumpkin!  As I understand it, each Coach is asked to pick a runner who achieved their PR (Personal Record) for this meet.  Jack got the honors this time around.
Way to go, everyone!!!  From the sounds of it, most of you (if not all) should have received a PR pumpkin because today was all about improvements across the board.

Next week is REGIONALS.  We're nearing the end. So hard to believe the season is nearly over.

Team dinner this Friday will be hosted by the Kruckenbergs and the Clarks.
