Knight Invite
East End Park, Elmhurst, IL

What a day for a meet!  We couldn't have asked for better weather.  Now we just have to get those leaves to start changing colors.

The course was very spectator-friendly, allowing us to either sit comfortably in the shade and watch the runners go by, or cutting back and forth across the field to double our cheers.

And not only was the weather fine, so were our runners!  We had medal/ribbon winners in all three races.  Plus, the boys varsity team earned a third place spot overall, only 5 points behind team number two.  Impressive!

A special thanks to Mrs. Goffron for not having her baby yet.  Emoji  Feel free to get started though, now that the meet is over.  Emoji

I don't have any times yet; like before, I'll add those in as soon as they are forwarded to me.  In the meantime, enjoy the pics!

Welcome to East End Park

We're getting pretty good at getting this up efficiently.

Words of guidance from Coach Goffron.

Time to warm up.

Random picture: Did anyone else notice all the Cicada exoskeletons??

Fortunately, part of the course is in the shade, giving the runners a break from the warm sun.

A little frisbee before the race.

5th place for the Girls Varsity

1st place for the Boys Varsity.  You're supposed to hold up the medal, Eric, not the half-eaten peanut butter & jelly sandwich.

(Thank you!)

Thanks to Ale and Mrs. Goffron for the delicious cookies.  They obviously did not last long!

Next up:   Bull Frog Lake
(David Brady Invitational)
on Saturday, September 21.

This is one of the more difficult meets to find, so I'll post the directions below.  However, last year I posted them only to find out that there was construction and so my post wasn't very helpful.  If you discover more construction this year, chuck my directions and follow the detour signs!!!!!!

See you next week.

Directions to Bull Frog Lake:

Go South on Mannheim Road.
Mannheim becomes S. LaGrange Road.
Continue south, going past 294 and Archer Ave.
Turn right (west) on 95th.
Continue going west, passing Willow Springs Road.
After Willow Springs, the road will start to curve and eventually lead up to a fork in the road.  To the right is 95th, to the left is Wolf Road.
Turn left (south) on Wolf.
There will be an entrance on the right to the Bull Frog lake area.  That is actually where you will end up going to view the race, but depending on your arrival time, the parking in that area may already be full.  There will most likely be parking assistants to direct you to the next parking area, which will be the first driveway on the left after that.  Park there and walk back to the first parking lot to return to the race area.
