David Brady Cross Country Invitational
at Bull Frog Lake

Today's race was truly a Cross Country race!  So now all of you who ran today are fully initiated.  You gotta love those hills!
Well, maybe you didn't like the hills, but the weather was gorgeous, pleasant for both runner and spectator alike.
Thanks AGAIN to Mrs. Goffron.  This time for letting Mr. Goffron escape during his paternity leave in order to cheer on the team.
Like our 2nd meet (Lyons), there were several 2A and 3A schools competing against us.  So it's pretty significant that we had medal winners, and it's very significant that THE BOYS FROSH/SOPH GOT 7TH PLACE OVERALL, beating out several 2A and 3A schools (19 teams in total competed).  We should do quite well when we get to our own Regionals and are competing against "our own kind."  But no pressure, guys.  Let's just enjoy the season and see what happens.  No matter what, you're all winners in our eyes.

First Race of the Day:  Girls  Fr/So

Our Sole Walther Representative:  Tamron

At the starting line.

There were 119 runners in this particular race.  In case you can't tell, the race starts at the bottom of a hill (which they have to go up twice!!!)

The secret is in the socks!

Tamron finished in 23:50.3, 54th place overall.  Great job, Tamron!

Second Race of the Day:  Boys  Fr/So

There were 136 runners in total for this round.

At the 1-1/2 mile point (more or less)...

Third Race of the Day:  Girls Varsity

Our Sole Walther Representative:  Ale

Prayer & final words from Coach Goffron.

This race had 117 runners.

(Maybe it helps to look down when you're getting ready to go uphill.  What you can't see can't hurt you, right?????)

Ale finished in 20:48.3, earning herself a 22nd place medal.

Fourth & Final Race of the Day:  Boys Open

Final words with the Coach

Don't forget, at the end of the day, coaches have to end up running just as much (if not more!) as the competitors do.  Thanks, Coach G, for all you do!
There were 243 runners in this race!!!!

Picture taking is not always easy.  It's kind of like "Where's Waldo?"  Can anyone find Anders???

I'm not exactly sure what to title this one...
                                   Peek-a-Boo?
                                     Camera Shy?
"I just can't go any further!"???

Getting ready to go up the big hill one more time.

Do you think someone is glad that the race is finally over?

Jacob did a fantastic job, finishing 30th out of 243 runners with a time of 18:45.4.

Final time 21:47.7.

Anders crossed the line in 22:03.8.

Zach's time was 24:56.0.

Jose was done in 25:43.3.

By the way, this week's results were recorded by www.kompusport.com.  Many of the big meets like this one are posted there.  You can visit the site yourself (and check my accuracy!).
 ***
There was plenty of free time after the races while the team waited for the bus to return.  I did not take these particular pictures, so I have no captions (and in some cases, no explanations!), so use your imaginations.    :-)

Next week:  Washington Park, Chicago.
Friday's Hostesses:  Diana F. & Carrie J.

See you there!
