9th ICCP
Cross Country
Knight Invite
Though fall has not officially arrived yet, today it surely felt like autumn, which is actually perfect running weather for a cross country meet.  No fall colors yet, but there was definitely that crisp, cool temperature to start out the day.

Walking the course ahead of time

Alumnus Ale (2015) came back to cheer on the team.  Unfortunately, Gus was obligated to join the "cheerleaders" too since he recently found out he has a stress fracture!
Two more alumni were here as well:  Ana (2009) and Sandra (2012).

First run of the day:  Boys Varsity

Warm-ups...

...prayers...

...and cheers!

 OFF THEY GO!!!

Mitch emerged as our team leader, finishing in 15th place overall, with a time of 18:13.2, which is an improvement of his mile pace from last week's race by a few seconds.  Way to go, Mitch!

Jaylin was not far behind, finishing in 19th place with a time of 18:30.7.  Good job!!

Our pack runners (Luis, Kobe & David) stuck together for most of the race, and then David made a break for it at the end, being our 3rd runner to cross the finish line.  He was 21st overall and finished in 18:35.1.  This was an all-time personal best for a 3 mile run.  Fantastic!

Kobe was close by, finishing in 23rd place with a time of 18:41.9.  This was 9 seconds faster than his race here last year.  Keep up the improvement, Kobe!

Luis was fighting a harsh head cold, but was able to stick with the pack and be our final scorer for the team.  He finished in 24th place with a time of 18:45.3.  Way to keep on truckin', Luis!

Jose finished 33rd overall, with a time of 19:21.9.  This is a significant improvement of his mile pace compared to last week's race.  Way to go!

James finished up in 20:35, which is also a big improvement from last week's race.  Keep it up, James!

The boys scored only 97 points total, which put them in 4th place overall.  Great job, everyone!

Next up was the Varsity Girls:

Tamron cut quite a bit of time off of her mile pace compared to last weekend.  She finished 25th overall with a time of 24:36.3.  Impressive!

Chloe completed the course in 26:46, also reducing her mile pace since last Saturday.  That's what it's all about, Chloe!

Claudia finished in 27:11.4.  Not only did her mile pace improve since last week, but this is more than 2 minutes faster than her 1st 3-mile run last year.  Your hard work is definitely paying off, Claudia!

 BOYS OPEN

Aaron's tip of the day:  Be sure your shoes are tied well BEFORE the race!!!

Ready or not, there they go!

Julio was our front runner today, finishing in 9th place (and earning himself a ribbon!), finishing the course in 19:34.3, which was a significant improvement from last week's mile pace.
Way to go!!!

Steven was less than a minute behind Julio, finishing in 20:21.2.  This was also a huge cut from his mile pace compared to last week.  Super!

Aaron continues on his journey of improvement by finishing in  21:10.5, which is more than 3 minutes faster than his first ever 3-mile race last year.  Wow!

Daniel crossed the finish line in 22:28.7, which was a lot faster than last week's mile pace.  Impressive!

Kevin & Traivon decided to be running buddies this time around. Kevin finished in 25:04.7, and Traivon was the next runner after him, finishing in  25:10.3.  Both of their times represent a significant improvement since last week.  Kudos to both of you!!
 LAST UP:  GIRLS OPEN

Jamila started out strong and was looking good, but had to pull out due to stomach pain.  Hope you're feeling better, Jamila!

This was Demaja's 2nd race.  She finished in 33:37.7, which was several minutes faster than her 5K last week.  What a difference a week can make!

AWARD CEREMONY

"And in 15th place for the Varsity boys..."

Way to go, Mitch!

"Now, in 9th place for the boys' open race..."

Congrats to Julio!!!!

Overall, it was a very successful day with most people making significant improvements on their times since last week.  Keep up the hard work and let's see it pay off next Tuesday at our next meet.

See you then!
