Boys Cross Country

Class 1A State Finals

2016-17

Based on the pictures, it was a beautiful day!  Whether or not this is seen as a easy or hard course depends on the runner.  Some like it because it's flat all the way around; some don't like it because it's repetitive and definitely very crowded and easy to get boxed in.  But liking it or not, our Broncos did us proud today (and they beat their nemesis in the final showdown of the season!)

Our picture story begins the day before while still at Walther...

We are ready!

The big day...(Thanks to Mrs. Simzyk for taking the pictures!!!!)

Meeting an ex-Olympian!

Walther alumni here to cheer us on!  Thanks, Mitch!

Off they go!

Luis finished with a time of 16:16, 35 seconds faster than last year's run at State, and this was by far his best run EVER.  Way to be a rock star, Luis!!!

Jack, one of our seniors, did a stupendous job, tying with his PR for this year (16:45), proving that a little bit of thirst can go a long way!  So proud of you, Jack!

Last year, Coach Goffron brought Julio down with the team to State because he saw the potential for Julio to be part of yet another State-qualifying team.  Was he ever right!  Julio finished in 17:15, only 1 second slower than his personal PR for this year.
Way to go, Julio!

Our 2nd senior, Jaylin, also finished just a few seconds shy of his PR for this year.  He crossed the line in 17:22, only 7 spots behind Julio.  Congrats on a great year, Jaylin.  You'll be missed!
Oops...too fast for the photographer!

Nate bounced back wonderfully and finished in 18:10.  This was also his 2nd fastest time of the season.  You've been an amazing addition to the team, Nate.  Can't wait 'til next year!!!

Another runner who's faster than the photographer.

Darryl (aka "Big D") has been another key runner this season.  He finished his race in 18:35, which is a seasonal PR for him.  What a fantastic way to end the season, Darryl!!!

Sadly, not only did we miss getting a good pic of Gus running, he had to pull out of the race due to an injury.  So sorry, Gus, but you're still an important person on this team!!!  You'll make up for this next year, I'm sure!!!!

Miscellaneous pictures
(since I wasn't there I'm not 100% sure if they were taken before or after the race!):

Congrats on a job well done!!!!!
Stay tuned for word on our upcoming Cross Country banquet!
Go Broncos!!!
